Floral Anglaise

So you may wonder what I'm working on, and the answer is many things!  I'm having a bit of a CADD at the moment.  But I'm nearly done with a new floral print angalise and matching petticoat.  I need to finish hemming,  do a little trimming along the neckline and make/add sleeve flounces.  Here's a preview from a few days ago:

I bought this fabric for $6.40/yard when Michael Levine had an awesome sale on 18th style prints back in 2011.  So I bought enough yardage to make a gown and matching petticoat with a flounce and will do a full write up as a Historical Sew Monthly entry for the Stash Challenge once I finish.

Frankly I'm kind of kicking myself I didn't buy more of these prints when they were on sale, Michael Levine hasn't had anything like them anywhere near that price since then!  An light cottons like this are SO practical for LA.

    1. Weren't they pretty? I bought this and a bit more of the really colorful one I'd already made a gown out of (its in the photo in the background of the blog on the left) but I wish I'd bought MOAR.

  3. I really like that print. It's fun and colorful, without being so bright as to not feel historical. It looks like it could have been a very well cared for extant gown.

CADD = Costumer's ADD? What a genius way to describe it. I feel so scattered, having something like 8-10 projects (big and small) in some state of partially done at any given time. It makes me feel so scattered and unproductive, to fell like I've been hard at work, but having nothing "finished" to show for it. I'm have this horrible reluctance to post unfinished pieces. But kudos to you for doing so and reminding us that these awesome projects don't just spring out of nowhere overnight.

    1. I like having a few projects to work on, so if I get stuck on one I can work on another but sometimes it gets a little out of control! :P

  4. Such a pretty fabric. It would make me very happy while wearing it. So now we're just at the whim of Ikea curtains.
