Titanic Evening Gown Finished

I've been pretty bad about updating this blog!  Shame on me!  Anyway the Titanic evening gown has been finished and worn to a lovely Titanic Dinner event in the Bay Area.  I was inspired by many of the Callot Soeurs gowns I'd seen online, specifically I wanted something a little more fitted and not so poofy as some of the gowns of that era I'd seen.  I'm a big busty girl and don't really need any more "poof" thank you very much!

I used the evening gown in Janet Arnold as the base for my pattern and made a boned under gown of heavy black silk satin which I draped sequined net over.  I used vintage fringe, lace, ribbon and a tassel to trim the gown and made sleeves out of black velvet ribbon edged sequined net.  It's a pretty blingy gown but it has the nice, columnar look I was going for without too much poof.
