Jane Austen Evening

Finally, the incredibly tardy Jane Austen Evening post. Lordy, that was ages ago now so much has been going on and I still have Gallifrey and a Bustle tea to post about! Eeep!

Anyway, I had such a good time.  I didn't do any dancing as I still felt a bit uneasy on my feet post surgery, but I had a lovely time chatting with friends, taking pictures and generally enjoying that feeling like I'd stepped back in time.

There were beautiful ladies in white dresses and colorful gowns...

And handsome gents too...Wait, is that Mr. Wickham??

There were many lovely Austen-like moments...sometimes it felt like we were in a painting or one of the books.  Which is part of the reason why I love this event so much!

I wore my old standby yellow striped silk/cotton and the open robe I refashioned from an old 18th C gown at the end of last year.  I really like it so much better as a Regency gown.  My only new addition was the tiara.

Best of all I had a great time with friends in costume.  It was not good company, it was the best!

  1. Love your dress and that rainbow sari Regency dress another lady is wearing in your pictures as well! The yellow stripped dress looks really good on you. Not everyone can pull off yellow!

  3. That red dress in the second photoset inspired me! I had a sari kicking around my stash for almost 10 years, and I turned it into a lovely gown the night before/morning of the ball I went to on Saturday XD Thank you for sharing these lovely photos!

  4. I made the same dress as the woman in white! Shear front, white muslin gown with sear short sleeves! Wow!
Love the use of recycled fabric for your gown. It pairs so well with the other fabric.
