Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibit and FIDM store

Had a very nice time at FIDM with some costume friends today.  We went to see the Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibit they have every year. As usual there were no photos allowed, but I found a link to the costumes we all wanted:  the ones Charlize Theron wore in Snow White and the Huntsman. Drop. Dead. Gorgeous. Even Thor, er the Huntsman's costume was really detailed and well-crafted. While I felt the movie was pretty terrible Colleen Atwood really should have taken home the top prize. The photos don't do the costumes justice, if you're in the area they are worth seeing.

Also on display were costumes from Django, Hitchcock, Sparkle, Mirror Mirror, Les Mis, Lincoln, Skyfall, A Royal Affair, The Artist, The Hunger Games, Argo and Anna Karenina.

The exhibit runs from February 12–April 27, 2013  from 10am–5pm Tuesday through Saturday.
Exhibition open Easter weekend, March 29 and 30, 10am–5pm
Admission Free to the Public

After that we went to the FIDM Scholarship Store.  Tthe FIDM Scholarship Store sells new clothing, jewelry, fabric, and accessories donated by top fashion companies. So you get an odd assortment of samples, one offs, fabric, trim, etc. often at great prices.  This is the place a bunch of us got cards of cotton lace from a while back and where I got my 18th C ish stretch pearl bracelets.  No trim or bling for me this time. No, this time I got a Bebe label faux fur pimp coat for $35.  Woo hoo!  If I wear it with these and a miniskirt I'll be ready for LA "winter!"   ;)
